New industry Technology regarding to Bussmann fuse, ABB breakers, Amphenol connectors, HPS transformers, etc.
A fuse is only as good as its holder. Choose the wrong holder and you compromise contact resistance, heat dissipation, and arc containment — even if the fuse itself is perfect.
Bussmann offers one of the industry's most complete accessory ecosystems: holders, bases, terminal blocks, microswitches, and indicator accessories that match every fuse family. This guide maps them all.

A fuse holder does four jobs:
Mechanical retention — holds the fuse firmly against vibration
Electrical contact — provides low-resistance connection to the circuit
Heat dissipation — conducts heat away from the fuse element
Arc containment — directs the arc products safely if the fuse operates
A poor holder raises contact resistance, which raises fuse temperature, which lowers effective current rating — silently derating your protection. Always pair Bussmann fuses with Bussmann holders where possible.
| Base Model | Fuse Size | Poles | Mounting | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SD00 | NH00 | 1 | DIN rail / panel | Compact, 160A max |
| SD1 | NH1 | 1 | DIN rail / panel | 250A max |
| SD2 | NH2 | 1 | Panel | 400A max |
| SD3-SC | NH3 | 1 | Panel | 630A, with cover |
| SD4-SC | NH4 | 1 | Panel | 1250A, with cover |
| SD-D-PV | NH00–NH2 | 1 | DIN rail / panel | DC-rated for PV |
| SD-S-PV | NH00–NH2 | 1 | DIN rail | Compact DC-rated |
PV note: For solar DC applications, always use a DC-rated base (SD-D-PV or SD-S-PV). Standard AC bases may not provide adequate arc containment at 1000VDC.

| CH60J | 1/3 | Class J, 60A frame |
| CH100J | 1/3 | Class J, 100A frame |
| CH200J | 1/3 | Class J, 200A frame |
| CH400J | 1/3 | Class J, 400A frame |
| Holder Model | Fuse Size | Feature |
|---|---|---|

| CH14 | 14×51mm | DIN rail, 1-pole |
| CH22 | 22×58mm | DIN rail, 1-pole |
| CHPV15L85 | 10×85mm | PV-rated, DC-capable |
CHPV15L85 is the dedicated holder for Bussmann 10×85mm PV fuses (PVM-10x85 series). It's rated for the DC voltage of the fuse and features a DC-appropriate arc chamber.
| Base Model | Fuse Type | Feature |
|---|---|---|
| 1BS101 | 170M size 00/1 | Single-pole, DIN rail |
| 1BS102 | 170M size 1 | 2-pole |
| 1BS103 | 170M size 1 | 3-pole |
| 1BS10 family | 170M various | Modular, busbar-mountable |
High-speed fuse bases use larger contact surfaces to handle the thermal load of a 315A+ semiconductor fuse.
The most under-specified accessories — and the ones that save the most downtime.
In a cabinet with 12 parallel 170M fuses, finding the blown one by visual inspection is slow and error-prone. An indicator accessory provides:
Remote signal to the PLC/SCADA — immediate fault location
Visual confirmation at the fuse itself
Interlock capability — trip a contactor when the fuse operates
| Model | Mounting | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 170H0069 | Top mount | NC/NO microswitch, remote signal |
| 170H0236 | Side mount | Alternative orientation |
| 170H0238 | Side mount | Different terminal configuration |
| Model | Feature |
|---|---|
| 170H3003 | Standard mechanical striker pin |
| 170H3004 | Longer travel for deep mounting |
| 170H3005 | High-force, actuates auxiliary contacts |
| 170H3006 | General-purpose indicator |
How striker pins work: When the fuse operates, internal pressure drives a pin outward through the fuse body. The pin can be: - Viewed directly (visual indication) - Used to trip a microswitch (remote indication) - Used to actuate a mechanical latch (interlock)
For systems that need busbar distribution rather than individual fuses:
| Product | Model | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Power distribution block | PDB371-3 | 3-pole distribution |
| Fused distribution block | PDBFS | Fuse-protected distribution |
| Busbar module | BCM | Modular busbar |
| Busbar module | BMM | Modular busbar, alternate |
| Terminal block | TB100-04 | 4-pole, 100A |
| Terminal block | TB300 | 300V class |
| Terminal block | TB400 | 400V class |
| Fuse Family | Matching Holder/Base | Indicator Option |
|---|---|---|

IP20 — Finger-safe, for inside enclosures (most holders)
IP65+ — Outdoor/washdown (specialized holders)
Match the holder's voltage rating to the fuse. A DC PV fuse needs a DC-rated holder — using an AC holder with a DC fuse compromises arc containment.
In high-ambient panels, verify the holder's temperature rating. Some holders are rated to 120°C; others only to 80°C.
Q: Can I use a generic holder with a Bussmann fuse?A: Physically maybe, but you lose the guaranteed thermal and contact performance. For critical applications, use the matched Bussmann holder. The cost difference is small relative to the risk.
Q: Do I need a holder for 170M fuses?A: Yes — 170M fuses require mounting in a base (1BS101–1BS103) or busbar arrangement. They cannot be held by clips alone at high currents.
Q: What's the point of a microswitch?A: Downtime reduction. In a multi-fuse system, a remote signal from 170H0069 tells the operator exactly which fuse operated — turning a 30-minute troubleshoot into a 30-second identification.
Q: Are striker pins reusable?A: No. The striker pin is part of the fuse. Replace the entire fuse, which includes a new striker pin.
